2017 A year in stitches…

Well so much for trying to keep updated here. Life such as it is has thrown me for a loop. Work has been busy, had some issues with a job I was at for 3 years and finally called it quits at the last of Aug. and started a new job in Sept. Same pay but much better conditions, No Drama, No Name Calling etc. I am much happier than I was 4 months ago. How ever this post is about all the finishes I did for the year 2017. This is going to be quite picture heavy as I have many friends in the cross stitching/embroidery world now that have helped me by encouraging me, offering advice, answering questions and motivating me to stitch more. It’s a hobby that I truly enjoy and I have enjoyed meeting new friends and getting to know many of them. So here’s to ALL my stitching friends. Love ya’ll bunches and hope to see you and talk to you in the New Year and hope  we have many more years of friendship.

                                           2017 FINISHES

In no particular order as I have not renamed the files for each of the finishes I did this year. I’ll count them as I post them.I counted 36 finishes for 2017!!! Granted some are smalls  though

Wishing you all a very Happy New Year!!!

Happy Stitching and may you have smokin’ needles.. xxx

Finished my first Miribilia!

This one is a small compared to the other Mira I am working on.
This one I picked for my community’s L&L/General Fall SAL

   I started on August 1, 2017 and finished October 31, 2017
This is the finished pic but I’ll make a short video of the progress as I went along.
Happy Stitching and may you have smokin’ needles…xxxx

Happy Stitching and May you have Smokin’ Needles

Way Behind…..

Hello all, I hope this finds everyone doing well. I do apologize for not posting as often but due to my full time job, we are in busy season , so that means long days and a little time to stitch, Life such as it is gets in the way sometimes, but I am grateful that I have a full time job and  be able to do the things that need to be done around my home. The weather has been really hot and humid as well which drains the energy faster.

A little about what I’ve been up to as far as stitching, As many of you know I manage a Google Community(private) and we have quite a few ladies there that are stitching in SALs I’ve created from ideas from all the wonderful people.
First up is out General Year Long SAL, I’ve been working on various projects and have completed 1 project which was Daffy Cat’s Reindeer. There were 9 and I finished them up a couple of months ago…
I also finished Stardust Fairy by Joan Elliott this year(2017)
Next up another finish is Tempting Tangles-  Crimson Cardinal
I began working on a Mirabilia in March for our Mira March SAL. Had a few problems with it on the left side and had to frog the whole left side and restart it. I am finally back up to a little past the half way point with Deepest Love by Nora Corbett
Next up is our new SAL we started on August 1st. L&L/General Fall SAL, you can work on anything Fall related or any L&L you have. I chose to work on Mari from Nora Corbett’s Bewitching Pixies, pretty much the middle part of her dress is done….
Now there’s another SAL I have joined by Deborah A. Dick of Tempting Tangles
This SAL is called Great Cheshire Pumpkin SAL. Parts 1-4 of 8 have been released. I’ve finished up part 2 and working on part 3 this week. progress
And last but not least of my rotation is 12 Days of Christmas by Micheala Learner . I’ve stitched so far this year 5 Days and will start the 6th Day next week but here is the 5th day
So now my rotation consist of just 4 projects, I feel better working on 1 project a week. I feel I am making better progress this way and I hope to continue to do so.
So until next time, Happy Stitching and May you have smokin’ needles…

WIPS and Rotation

Hello my lovely stitching friends! I hope this finds ya’ll doing well. I’ve been trying to do a rotation and was working on a main project for the Mira March SAL I am running. You can find all the lovely ladies post over on this blog to see what everyone is up to.

Back to my rotation. I suppose I was getting bored trying to work on 4 projects each week rotating days. I’ve decided to clean up, reorganize and get my projects in order and work on each 1 a week at a time. I’ll be trying this for a little while to see how it works. I did have them in order on a bookshelf each with it’s threads and patterns but I got tired of the way it looked so I decided to clean out my 4 drawer rolling storage cart and use it. I’ve got each drawer labeled Week 1, Week 2 etc.

1st week is a small ornament that I have stitched 8 of the 9 so far of Daffy Cat’s Reindeer
I have one left to stitch then I’ll replace it with the 12 Days of Christmas by Micheala Learner – Found here
and add another Mirabilia by Nora Corbet for the community’s up coming L&L/General Fall SAL due to start August 1st.
Here’s a few pictures of what I am working on and the way I have them in the drawers

Also working on Tempting Tangles The Great Cheshire Pumpkin SAL pictured above part 1 is finished and started on part 2  ^ find the SAL details on the link above

That’s all for now, Back to stitching and I hope to have ya’ll another update soon….
Happy Stitching and may you have smokin’ needles….

1-1-2017 Happy New Year! I’ve brought back Stardust Fairy for a SAL I have going on in the community over on Google+ Currently there are numerous things going on with in the SAL. You can find the details here and how to join me and the wonderful group of ladies here
1-26-2017 Update on Stardust. I’m working on page 3 of 4 now. pages 1 and 2 are complete. I would say this is about quarter to half done on page 3. I’ve been under the weather for a couple of weeks but I have now begun healing and getting better. Working and being sick have put me a bit behind though I am determined to catch up. Happy Stitching!

Here is the starting point again for the Stardust Fairy.

I’m working on her dress now. I am hoping to be finished by March in time for the second SAL of the year to start –  Mira March 2017
Happy Stitching!

* 3-20-2016 little update not much stitching as I’ve been gathering items for Jar Toppers to stitch. Counting how many I need for Family at Christmas this year and doing price checks as well as working full time. So Stardust Fairy has been slow going but hoping I can get some stitch time in again soon. Without further ado here she is. I’ve almost completed the sphere she is holding so that I can  move on to the bottom part. Happy Stitching till next time and hoping Mr. Frog stays away! C’s Cross Stitch Creations.

* 3- 16- 2016 Time for an update although not much work done. I was working on another project and real life gets in the way ( work).Anyhow, here is what I have managed so far . Her hand holding the sphere is done backstitched that and part of her arm. Once the top half is stitched I will  move on to the bottom which is her dress. Wanting to get this done before I start Earthdancer ( separate page for that once started). As always Happy Stitching and may Mr. frog stay away. ~ C’s Cross Stitch Creations ~

* 2-28-2016. Update on Stardust Fairy. Got some progress done, she now has 2 hands and 2 arms holding a flower spray. Very tired after a long day of work so I’ll leave you with a pic and Happy Stitching! Till next time, may Mr. Frog stay away and you get lots of stitchy time in. ~C’s Cross Stitch Creations~

* 2-21-2016 A day late updating and not much progress. Quite upset this time because once again my grid count was off by a WHOLE row ( * note to self  DON’T grid when tired), and the Mark-b-Gone pen I used last year to mark the grid would not come out. I almost cried thinking I would have to restart the Stardust Fairy once again. But I found a nice product ( OxiClean pre-treatment laundry stain remover spray )
I dared to try this to get the lines out and lo and behold it worked! One happy camper now. Hoping to make more progress this week. Here’s before and after pictures.
                                                                     BEFORE

                                                                             AFTER

Using easy count grid line now.
Happy Stitching! Until next time , may the frog stay away and you find stitching time.

* 2 – 7- 2016 And back once again, not a whole lot of stitching going on. I’ve been working on a frame for another cross stitch I finished ( 1st Finish for 2016 ) pics will be posted there. Now back to the beautiful Stardust Fairy. I’ve filled in a little of her dress , face , shoulders, upper body  are mostly done. It doesn’t look like a lot of progress so I am hoping to remedy that for a little while this evening before sleep takes over. Happy Stitching! ~ C. Cross Stitch Creations ~ * NOTE this is the first page I made for the StarDust Fairy, found here —> Stardust Fairy by Joan Elliott

* Yay another update(2-2-2016) however it is 2 days late(work & life issues got in the way) but I’ve managed to sneak in a few stitches *Update below* – I’ll be updating this wip hopefully each Sunday as I work on it. I had started this one back in May of 2015 with the dress, had my count all messed up and decided to frog ( yes Mr. Frog ) it all and start her over. I started with the wings at the time but had to put it aside for a while. I decided after I finished one wip I was working on ( separate post) I would pull this one back out so without further ado here’s is my stopping and now my starting point. You can find this lovely pattern here as a freebie – Stardust Fairy
And see more of Joan Elliott’s beautiful work here – Joan Elliott

Happy Stitching! ~ C. Cross Stitch Creations ~

***Good evening everyone, I’m back to do an update on my Stardust Fairy. I played around with the camera and angles so decided I’d give you a peek.

As you can see I tried to get up close and take some pics from different angles.I did manage to capture some of the sparkle from the material which is 14 count Charles Craft silver dusted Aida and the Light Effects threads in the crown along with the DMC Satin floss in her crown.

Until next time Happy Stitching ~ C. Cross Stitch Creations~

When I last left off I didn’t have her face and arms started, It doesn’t take long when you can sneak in a few stitches before work 😉 * note also helps start your day off right most times. Any how here is the latest update. Quarter stitches on 14 count advice, make sure you use a sharp needle, it helps. I used a dull needle and found I was fighting trying to get the floss centered for the quarter stitches to look right.  First time using satin floss & I  love working with DMC Satin threads in her crown. -List of floss here DMC Satin-Floss

And here she is so far. I don’t have a lot of stitching time but when I do catch a few minutes I try to make the most of them. I am really hoping I can get this one done within the next 6 months. Happy Stitching!
Until next time ~C. Cross Stitch Creations~

Rotation/Plans in Cross stitching

Hello there my sweet stitching sisters! I hope this finds you well. I wanted to give a shout out to +Khristine Doiron  for introducing me to working on my projects in a rotation. I called on my stitching community for help last year because I was overwhelmed. I kept starting projects because it was a “Oh I like that! Must stitch it”  thing with me and I have had as much as 20 WIPs at once. I know it may not seem like a lot to others but I got overwhelmed big time. What started me was I had seen so many other stitchers  stitching ornaments for their Christmas Trees and I want to do that as well  because I really didn’t have any and  I had so many projects started I wasn’t sure I would accomplish it. But with advice I resolved and scolded myself and started doing projects on a rotation and now I have a nice little rotation going and a few small projects done. With the help of SALs I have also managed to get 3 rather large(to me) projects completed. I have chosen a large project as my focus piece with 3 small projects. This is how I have rotated.
First up Stardust Fairy I’ve made more progress on this one than I have when I first started it. I had put her away to finish up a Birthday present for my mom.  Anyway this is where I had left off……..

I started back on her last year.  +Bekka Stitches  is also working on this one and   she along with the other stitchers have helped tremendously in motivating me and I   in turn motivate her and the others. When I found out thru talking with her that she had this one too I wanted to bring mine back out so now we are both stitching on her in hopes of getting it done by March so that we can start a Mira for the Community  Mira March SAL we will begin on March 1st. So with out further ramblin’ here is where I am today.

I have more done than this I just haven’t taken a photo yet.

Now for the smalls I have in rotation…. I am working on 12 Days of Christmas by Michaela Learner
I have one complete – Partridge in a pear tree which you can see the picture Here

I am also working on Daffy Cat’s Reindeer so far I have 4 of 9 complete and working on #5 Stocking Reindeer( far right). Progress so far….

My rotation consist of  – Every other day – Focus piece. On the other days I rotate the 2 smalls. Example – Monday Focus Piece, Tuesday Reindeer,Wednesday – Focus, Thursday- 12 Days etc. I sometimes just work on 1 small in one week along with my focus piece. The reindeer don’t take as long to stitch as 12 Days. I hope that this helps those who wish to start a rotation. If you need advice or motivation please ask and ye shall receive 🙂 There’s plenty of us in the Community  ( this is a private community)(feel free to join) that can and will help you and remember no question is a silly question. Doesn’t matter what it is don’t be afraid to ask!
That’s all for now….. Happy Stitchin’ and May you have smokin’ needles xxxx
